hey guys, a quick question for the community. I have obviously came across this forum, and now in all my searching i discovered another board, blackfinowners.com.

is there a reason for this? i would figure there is just one united community? both boards seem to be active.

I ask only because i am used to seeing only one board devoted for a specific boat. examples would be if your a big classic seacraft fan, there is classicseacraft.com

if you own a bertram 31, there is bertram31.com

if you own a classic mako, as in my case, there is classicmako.com.

I ask out of curiosity because when i need info, i prefer to be at a board where the true experts are. I have been a member at THT since 2002, but would never post any question there about a blackfin, or anything else for that matter, because there is always some jackass that will respond to a question that owns a stamas, big fountain with vrods, or an old tollycraft that seems to have know idea of WTF they are talking about other than they are bored and just want to chime in an active thread.

A man that owns a new seahunt with the latest 4 stroke yamaha cannot answer a technical question about a 6v92 or problems with a 425 cat, lol.... so I get frustrated, and just kind of read sometimes for entertainment, even though I do however recognize some of the names on this board at THT as well.

so I guess getting back to the original question, I was curious as to the history of both these boards and wondering if there was any kind of a "fallout" between the original creators? example, when THT was sold, Wiley went on to start his own new forum.

hope this question doesn't strike a nerve with anybody, I am just curious, LOL-

Adam

It may strike a nerve, but more likely cause BlackfinMike an anyeurism.

Mike started this site over a disagreement with they way the other site was being run - and that's all I am going to say.

Like LI32 said....

In a nutshell, there was a disagreement about wanting to charge for membership (kinda like Boat Diesel does) for the "other" site. So without getting into a lot of detail, Mike started this as a free site.

The other site owner wanted to make money on the people on the site??

Most of us disagreed with it?? There were 31 of us donating $100 (+/-) a year, right after all of us donating it on the 3rd year, he then said he needed to change it to a paid site, because he has to be paid to work on it and keep it up and running, because none of the members are his friends??

We are not friends here either, we are family!!

I laughed at it, and after talking to no less the 8 members who disagreed with him, I spoke out and told him that if he made it a paid site, I would make a site that would alway's be free for Blackfin owners who need it???

When he shrunk the site down to 1/8 of it 's size as a threat, I registered this site in retaliation
He then banned me??

This site costs me $120 a year (+/-) not including the design of the start -up???

If I had $3100 of donations, I would send back $3100??

We know allot about Blackfins, but I shouldn't be paid for what
fellow Blackfin owners know, we are professionals in our field of work, but not paid Blackfin professionals

This site will be here for ALL Blackfin owners for FREE!!!

Getting tires put on my car at a tire shop, I hope I typed this right on my smart phone

One thing I will tell you, you will get a reply on this site within 1 hr of posting during daylight hours??

I did post on this thread this morning, lost in smart phone LaLa land

wow that was detailed explanation! okay, didn't mean to get you fired up, sorry if I did!

i understand now, and yes, that is BS.....

but any new member that joins would probably be curious as to the same question I asked, because it would be confusing why there are two boards for a boat company that has been gone for 15 years now....

regardless, I am glad to be a part of this community.

now, I need to take pics of my pics of my old blackfins and learn how to post them. , and would even love to know the whereabouts of these boats are.... many fish have been slain in the cockpits of both of those rides.. that would be really cool if the present owners are on this board.. if we are family, that would be better then ancestry.com!!!  i could tell them all kinds of stories about their boats,LOL

This was my reply through email, (that I just copied and pasted) to him when he "asked" our opinion???

This was my down fall What did I say bad

Not fired up anymore at all, because this site is ours??? I may be very emotional about having this site here to help those who might need it

Before banning me, he put the part about "I am no Blackfin professional"  in my signature

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Richard you asked the forum for help, and I believe the members that did help are the willing ones that will pay, these are the ones you are asking now for an opinion on if others should pay....

My opinion (please take this lightly), you believe the forum has become something it is not, I believe you are thinking you have a possible small income that can be obtained by these actions....

I will say this, if this is how it goes with everyone having to pay to come to the sight, i will take the money out of my pocket to set up a free site for Blackfin owners

My personal opinion is that the 20 or so (+ /-) members that have paid (the $400 needed) will stay, but we will lose valuable members like southdade paul, licorice and others that don't even own Blackfins but still contribute to help others.

I think that this will burry a very good site..

I am truly sorry if my opinion disappoints you, but I will say, I don't think I ever have gotten any info off the site that I couldn't have gotten somewhere else?????

Boatdiesel, has professional shops that moderate and take there time out of there day to answer questions.... What do we have, I couple guy's that have torn into there Blackfins?????

I can tell you this.... I am NO Blackfin professional ????? LMAO

Unfortunately, these pics are from 15 years ago before the digital age- they are framed pics on the wall. There is no disc or digital camera card of these pics. I will have to take a picture of the pics the best I can with my iPhone.
Then, I guess I can follow the pic diagram you just posted, starting from left to right, top to bottom, and then we will see pics?

If you have a scanner, you can just scan the images onto your computer. Then just go to this section and click "Browse" to find the pic on your computer and then click "Upload" then "Save"

The I phone picture will come out much better then a scanned picture, everything I just posted was pictures with my I phone??

If you send them to your email, and you have a mac computer, select slideshow at the top of your email, then put it into your I photo.. Otherwise it will be sideways (I had that problem)

Season posted the second set of pictures by taking the pictures with a camera (or phone) of the originals

  Welcome Stress Factor!

I think this site has the best knowledge bar none... I could not be where I am on my old 29  if it wasn't for the knowledge on this board. I trailer boated for years and then got a hair for a real boat. Bought more of a project than I realized but she is coming along thanks mostly to these guys..

I have been wondering what's up with the other site. I found blackfin owners before I found this site and donated a 100 bucks to because it seemed like the guys who contributed were the ones with all the real info and felt it would be a sign of good faith and maby I would get real answers. I have a buch of pics of my BF 33 gut and rebuild. I will work on posting some to this site.
