I finally made it over here from that other place.  Glad to see all the usual suspects alive and well.  So what do I like to do?  Uh, well I like to fish, I really like to catch fish even more.  I spend an inordinate amount of time cleaning egret crap off of the coaming pads.  Among other bad habits, I'd list hunting, surfing and sitting under the house looking at the water watching the tides move through the bottom of my favorite rum drink...

Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want...

Hey, last year was only a few weeks ago!  cool  LOL, I remember the PM...well like our fishing season this past year, it sort of didn't happen.  Between phantom electrical issues on the boat and then generator lift pump problems along with a little explosion at work kept me from doing anything except working.  Things have slowed down at work and we have all the 'current' issues worked out.  The wahoo bite is hot right now so we just need a weather window like the one below.

Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want...

Hi, Capt. Adam.  I'm the lawyer you met at Restoration and kindly took through your BEAUTIFUL '29.  I took your advice and ended up buying a '29 rather than a '32.  Here she is!

So many fish to catch, so little time!

Wow..that's great! Good luck with her. How does she run? What do you have powering her? Is she big enough for you?...I know that was a concern of yours.

Can you believe we are still in the yard? We were spitting fire last week and apparently today there is a flurry of activity. Hoping to be launched in 2 weeks (what they said in September though). Geez if I knew you were a lawyer I wouldn't have talked to you LOL. Welcome aboard!

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Adam,

She did about about 22 knts at 3200, 26 at 3750, and will do 32 at 4500 (but not for too long) with a dirty bottom, three old transducers, bad plugs, and a port prop with about a nickel size ding and a small hole in it.

She is powered by '99 Mercruiser 454 MPI Horizons (380hp).   I've taken her through '3 foot seas at about 20 knots without a problem for me (can't speak for everyone on the boat).  We had a few 2' that climbed on top of each other that I coudn't avoid, as the period was about 3 sec, which was challenging.  Very little roll in the cockpit; a little more on the flybridge, assuming you don't get her sideways to a 4 footer.  Its a little tight with 6 guys fishing in the cockpit, which is what I usually end up with.  But I can dock her by myself if I have to, and painting, slips, etc. are cheaper when costs are by the foot.  Charles Janice told me that they made the '29 by cutting off the back of the '32, which also had a slightly widened hull.   I'm assuming that the weight difference with that much less fiberglass and ply wood, (He said that the plywood was the biggest weight problem on the '29) helps some with the exorbitant fuel costs.  (Makes your Yanmars look even prettier!!!)  Given how much less she displaces than the '32 and presumably the effect on the center of gravity, I don't think there is a tuna tower in her future, but we don't do much of that down here in Naples anyway.  Not sure where I am going to put a generator though, as she has the 219 gal main tank.

I took her to the yard in early January to have the bottom repainted, the old transducers taken off, the prop reconditioned, rewiring, tank cleaned (yucky stuff in there), thru hulls serviced and two rebedded, etc.  Its been there for two months.  It was killing me.

Seems like the yards down here don't want to risk hiring anymore people, even though everyone's work is backed up.

But, she passed her sea trial last Friday, so supposedly she's ready to be picked up.  Finally!

Hope you splash your's soon.  I'd really like to hear how those engines and props do on the sea trial!!!

JD, the transom was cut down, then a sawzall was ran right around the chine to make the 29 mold??

Charles did that himself

Do you have saddle tanks, I saw a newer model on yacht world with one of those 1 cyl generators under the starboard hatch?? Looked tight, but everything is in the bad-ass sea beating 29 Blackfin

The saddle tanks are gone.  I was thinking about replacing them.   Any idea who made the genny that would fit in that little space?

It was a Mase, I believe it would have been this one http://www.masenorthamerica.com/IS_02.51.php (it might have been the bigger one)

I also believe you would have to lift the deck out to install it??

The newer model 29 flybridge have bigger hatches so you might want to upgrade yours, I did that by buying the whole floor out of a whaler 275 outrage (from flounder pounder), and using there hatches in my 29's deck hatch

This was mine after fiber-glassing the underside with them in
